Ken Block dies in snowmobile accident aged 55

Professional rally driver and YouTube star Ken Block passed away on Monday in a snowmobile accident, according to a statement from his Hoonigan Racing team. He was 55 years old. The accident occurred at 2 p.m. when Block was riding a snowmobile down a steep slope in Wasatch County, Utah. The snowmobile flipped over and landed on top of him, causing injuries from which he was later pronounced dead at the scene. Prior to his rally driving career, Block co-founded the sportswear company DC Shoes in 1994. He began rallying in 2005 and made his debut on the FIA World Rally Championship circuit in 2007. He also gained fame for his Gymkhana YouTube series, in which he performed driving stunts and drifts at various locations around the world. Block is survived by his wife Lucy and three children.
